The more I see of these packs in action the happier I am that I added them to the catalog. The details are crisp and they add some real character to infantry models.

Golden Demon winner, and Secret Weapon customer, Bryan Wride (AKA Tinweasel) took one of the original Urban Streets bases and, with a bit of sanding, attached it to a beveled plastic base. The end result looks great under this incredible model.

New Tutorials - What Would You Like To See?

I picked up a new video camera (finally) and hope to make time for new tutorials in the very near future. I have a few ideas in the queue:

Brass etch: a "how to" look at the current brass etch products.

Weathering pigments: a video version of the current tutorials as well as some additional step-by-step.

Snow & crushed glass: a video version of the current snow tutorial using only two methods plus the addition of glass.

Before I get up and running again I'm really hoping that folks out there will chime in with requests. These can relate to existing tutorials, such as a specific pigment technique, or be totally new topics.

When you make a request remember that I am much better with vehicles and weathering than I am with infantry. You can ask me for a Non-Metal Metallic tutorial all you like... but you wouldn't really want me to make one.

After many requests to fill out the pith helmet head swap set, rather than have duplicates, I'm happy to preview the full set of 5 unique sculpts. This set includes two yelling faces, one standard, one bearded and one, by popular demand, with an impressive mustache!

They will be sold in sets of 5 and I will have the pre-order up just as soon as the masters make their way across the pond.

Preview: Pith Helmet Heads!

It is with the greatest pleasure that I introduce these new sculpts from the master of all things pith helmet - Col. Gravis!

The heads will be cast in metal and will be available in sets of 5 in mid September price TBD as we need to weigh the pieces first.

Secret Weapon customer "Pax Urbis Pax Imperi" sent in some photos of the brass etch panniers in action. I think that the green oxidization looks really good against the dark grey body of the Chimera.

Although I have several tanks sitting around with panniers glued to them I haven't had a chance to paint any of them yet. That makes this the first time I've seen the panniers in action. I have to say that I really love the finished effect - even if I'm a bit biased ;)

This is a great example of the bit being used front-to-back instead of side-to-side. You can equip an entire squad (or army) with these or combine them with the other helmet crest options to create a unique look.

User Gallery: Storm Wardens Project

When I was approached to paint a model and supply bases for the Storm Wardens Project I was thrilled. We set a goal of raising $1,000 for Doctors Without Borders.

Well here is the completed army shot - without all of the extras like custom dice and templates. All of the bases are from the Flagstone theme -- and I'm very happy to announce that we not only met our goal but exceeded it.

The total collected was

$16,107.00

for Doctors Without Borders!

I kid you not.

My heartfelt thanks go out to all of the gamers that contributed to the project - and to the incredible team of people that made this happen and allowed Secret Weapon Miniatures to be a part of it.

Secret Weapon customer, and commission painter, Winterdyne is at it again. As part of his ongoing Ultramarines army commission, all of which are on Trench Works bases, he's painted up this incredible Land Speeder Storm.

If you're looking for commission painting I can't recommend Winterdyne enough. Not only is he an amazing painter but he can extend a 15% discount on Secret Weapon products if they're purchased as part of the project. Yup, I enjoy seeing his work on my bases enough that I simply have to encourage more. Can you blame me?

Secret Weapon customer Jason T. sent in these shots of his Howling Griffon Space Marine on one of the 25mm Urban Streets Display Plinth bases.

I'm really happy to see that he painted the plaster on the back of the brick and picked out some of the tile floor. It's a small touch on the base that's easy to overlook - but once you know it's there it adds a lot to the scene. Thanks Jason!

Product Update: Alien Invasion

The Alien Invasion bases are shipping - and now include two sets of 25x70mm bike bases and OBJECTIVE MARKERS!

This set of six pressure cast resin objective markers are just the first in a new product category for Secret Weapon Miniatures. I'm working on designs for objective markers to fit most of the existing themes and a few others besides.

Anyone that pre-ordered the Alien Invasion bases will find a set of two objective markers included in the order; a little thank you for your patience while I got the orders out.
