Product Update: PANNIERS ARE HERE!!!

I've talked about them but didn't want to post an image until I'd had a chance to play with the factory product. They're... wonderful!

The frame comes with EIGHT panniers in three sizes:

2x Large
4x Medium
2x Small

Large pannier measures 10mm x 15mm
Medium pannier measures 7mm x 14mm
Small pannier meas...ures 5mm x 9mm

The large pannier can accommodate up to four 1:48 Jerry cans side-by-side.

The frame also includes details including pieces that can be used as lens covers, filters, vents, decking and doors or panels. Model not included.

These panniers and details can be used on any model but are best suited for 1:48 and 1:35 scale models.

John picked up some Runic Mountain bases and has promised to send photos both before and after his minis are attached. He's hoping to have his entire army on Secret Weapon bases before the end of the summer.

You can also blame John for the new grass scenics kit. I'd been debating whether or not to launch it when I got an email from him asking for "some static grass and perhaps some field grass as well." Since I was literally at my desk debating the materials for the kit when the email came in... well, that settled it for me.

Maciej was kind enough to send in some photos of a Praetorian army he's working on. All nine of the heavy weapon squads are sitting on Trench Works 60mm bases. His addition of some static grass, and the contrast between the light graven and the dark wood and sandbags, really gives these things some punch.

I hope to see an army like this on the table at some point! Thanks for the pics, Maciej!

Peer Review: Beasts of War

Things have been so crazy since over the past month that I totally forgot to post the most recent "On the Table" review of Secret Weapon. Oops.

Beasts of War took a few weeks off from their regular broadcast but kicks off the new series with a review of the "Runic Mountain" and "Infected Village" bases! I do loves me the Beasts of War broadcasts and recommend you check 'em out. In fact I like them so much that I might just offer them an exclusive discount coupon... so keep watching.

Product Preview: 60mm "Tech Factory" Update

Although I plan on making a second 60mm with more raised detail I decided that "shriekbob" was right -- this one could use a little something more. I've kept the base simple but I think the addition on a raised pipe adds some nice additional detail.

The pipe is held in place with three rings and rests flush against the diamond plate flooring. It works nicely with the pipes exposed by the maintenance hatch and still leaves plenty of room to pose your model.

Of course there are still a few days left until I put this base into a mold -- so more changes may come....

Product Preview: Tech Factory

This is a preview of the 25mm and 60mm "Tech Factory" bases. These have been cleaned and prepped but haven't been put into mold boxes yet. This is the first time I've posted bases for feedback so this is your opportunity to chime in before I finish them up.

My goal at the moment is to have these in molds on Wednesday 24-February but that's plenty of time for changes and revisions.

Product Update: New Bike Bases Incoming!

This is your last chance to buy any of the existing 40x70mm bike bases. Because tournament players have been hassled about the bike base size I will be switching everything over to the 25x70mm size this month.

Bike bases will now come as a set of 3 - and every theme will get two sets of bike bases. The "Urban Streets" bike bases are already finished and sitting in mold boxes and should be available next week.

Product Update: 25mm Urban Streets 01 - REMASTERED!

The "25mm Urban Streets 01" has been remastered and is once again available for purchase. A couple of lucky folks even had the new bases go out with their "All Your Bases" set today!

These bases were designed in the spirit of the original set and feature brick, I-beams, rubble and a limited amount of concrete. Since I was dissatisfied with the original brick I was using this time I individually sculpted and textured every brick in the set. They're now more properly sized and pitted.

These are available for immediate purchase and will be included in all future "All Your Bases" sets.

Product Update: New Weathering Pigments!

Four new weathering pigments have been added to the catalog: Dark Earth, Burning Sand, Patina Blue and Ash Grey. These are available individually or as a set.

These colors allow you to create fresh mud, old mud, sand, dust, verdigris, engine heat, concrete dust, oxidization and a whole host of other realistic weathering effects. Like all of the Secret Weapon Weathering Pigments these are made from natural, non-toxic materials.

There are a couple of new products coming out of the queue.

First up is a replacement for the 25mm "Urban Streets" bases with brick and rubble. Those were the first bases I ever sculpted and cast on what has become the Secret Weapon straight sided blanks. Unfortunately I didn't keep the masters because I was only doing it for my army at the time. Oh how things have changed! The new bases were done in a very similar style -- only this time I sculpted the individual bricks to ensure a more accurate scale! No, really.

Four additional colours are coming to the weathering pigment line. You will soon be able to get your hands on Dark Earth, Burning Sands, Ash Grey and Patina Blue pigments. I also have several mica powders in front of me that I'm hoping to test this week with the goal of adding metallic pigments to the line later this month.

There will also be new bases coming -- including 25mm bike bases and all new 30mm and 50mm rounds!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank everyone that has been following along for these past six months. I launched Secret Weapon in September of 2009 with fewer than a dozen products, incorporated in mid October and now have 43 active products and many more on the way. The enthusiasm, support and encouragement I've received constantly surprises me.

And now... back to sculpting I go!

Product Update: Cobblestone Bases

The new cobblestone bases are here in 20mm, 25mm, 40mm and 25x50mm square sizes. These are up on the Secret Weapon website for immediate purchase.

But before I can put together an "All Your Bases" package for these I'm hoping that fantasy game players can give me an idea of which bases to include. Please leave a comment if you have a suggestion on what combination of bases should go into the package deal.

Winterdyne is at it again. This time he has given us an incredible Space Marines Tactical Squad on the "Trench Works" series. The detail on these is fantastic and you can see more on his thread on the RelicNews forums.

I have to admit that I hadn't really imagined anyone using this theme for Space Marines but I really, really like the results. Most of the army is going to use Secret Weapon bases and I've already started begging for a photo. It's going to be incredible.

Product Update: 25mm Urban Streets 01

25mm "Urban Streets" 01 is temporarily unavailable. This mold was made from masters that I didn't keep -- back when this was just a hobby -- and the mold is finally starting to tear.

But don't worry, I have a new set of these bases sculpted in a very similar style waiting to go into the mold. This product should be revised and on the shelf again next week.

Current orders for this product will be fulfilled until the mold gives out altogether.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

This very excellent squad of Ultramarines Scout Snipers was painted by UK commission painter Winterdyne - he has a thread on the RelicNews Forums talking about the techniques - and they are based on the Trench Works 25mm Round Bases.

Product Update: Wasteland Bases

One of the sites I send new release bulletins to has asked me to limit my updates to once per week. It turns out that releasing new product every couple of days is crowding their news section. My bad, moo moo.

I simply can't help myself when new products like the Wasteland base series is ready to go. This set features more sculpted rock and an abundance of gravel -- with some incredible detailing like the skull, discarded container and computer on the 40mm set.

Both sizes are available now with the 40mm running $10.00 USD per set and the 60mm base coming in at $5.00 USD each.

These bases were sculpted to stand alone as a set but look very good when combined with the "Runic Mountain" bases and a bit of snow.

Product Update: Display Blanks

It's been a few hours since my last product release - which means it must be time for another one!

This time I'm introducing two new display blanks. Each is a 60mm round that measures 14mm high and has your choice of a removable 40mm or 25mm blank in the center. The straight side design of Secret Weapon bases means you won't have large gap between the display base and the gaming base -- and if you decide not to use it as a gaming stand you can always glue the blank in place and decorate over it.

The design was inspired by the rounds often seen on the competition quality models coming from the EU painters and is available now for $8.00 USD each.

Product Update: Weathering Powders

It won't come as a surprise to any Secret Weapon newsletter subscriber - or, really, to anyone that knows how much I enjoy weathering models - but I have introduced a new line of Secret Weapon brand weathering pigments.

I have started with the four colours which I use most often as a hobbyist and they are available individually or as a core colours set.

Each bottle contains approximately 7 grams (20ml) or high quality, non toxic pigment and retails for $4.50.

These pigments are the equal of anything on the market and if this turns out to be a popular product line you can bet I'll start adding to it.
