Secret Weapon customer Michael B print out the Secret Weapon Washes color chart and used some skull token counters to create is own test swatches. He used two drops of wash over white primer - and check out the excellent results!
Unlike the GW washes, Didi's Magic Inks, etc. these are actual acrylic suspensions. You can use these as paint to glaze or blend or use them carefully for traditional recess washing. But the body coverage you get from the Secret Weapon Washes means you can create a smooth transition to your shade color instead or a stark line depending on how you apply them.
That chart is really helpful, but I would also love to see the effect of the brighter colors on a dark (black) surface. Do they achieve any coverage at all in those circumstances?
Since GW washes are only available in dark colors for shading, they are almost invisible on dark surfaces, but I would love to try bright colored washes for a "glow from the inside" effect.
That's really cool. Doesn't alter the fact that armor wash is the most awesomest wash of all of them though. In my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI don't know - I think Golden Brown is my current favorite. Armor Wash and Stone are pretty close though.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yeah, this is as cool as it gets!
OOOOOH me want some. Do they have the same effect as the GW version or are they miles better?
ReplyDeleteThey are miles... different.

Cool I like the sound of that. They do look and sound miles better and diffrent from GW's, I think I will have to invest in some at some point.

I know that one of the crew used Fallout to get a glow effect against black -- I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.
