Heroes of Armageddon: Steel Legion Chimera
This is the Steel Legion Chimera I'm painting for the Heroes of Armageddon charity project. It's not quite finished but since I hadn't posted an update in awhile I thought I'd share the bits I'm working on now.
Since the painting is mostly finished - although I'm going to touch-up the stowage - I'm doing the pigments. This has allowed me to spend some time creating nice, rusty, chunky slabs of steel to be slapped onto the model as improvised armor. This is in keeping with our vision for the Steel Legion during the Third War for Armageddon --- holding everything together with duct tape and bailing wire while giving everything they've got.
I did the first bit of weathering on the treads with a fixer and will not go back in and apply a chunky layer with a thinner. I will then seal it in place with a TINY bit of matte sealer and that should (mostly) be that. At some point I just need to declare it finished though and since it's going into a display case for a couple of weeks now is as good a time as any.

Very nice. You have captured the theme very well.

Very nice indeed. Have you ever served in the British Army? Cause that's how we hold all our old vehicles together, duct tape bluetack and praying.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. That wont stop bullets though. Maybe make it slightly less rusty?
ReplyDeletegreat job.
It will be less rusty when the ash waste goes over it. I might also remove the plates per the Imperial Guard team leader's vision for the HoA army. It does, after all, have to fit in with other vehicles.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Justin, I love the weathering and the paint job is superb!
ReplyDeleteits very nice but how do they fire out of the rear hatch?
ReplyDeleteSeen this now you have it over in the display case at GEG. Looks better than in the photos.
ReplyDeletething is awesome!
