Product Update: Squad Displays!

Secret Weapon Miniatures is happy to announce the expansion of the display series into five man squad display stands -- starting with the "Trench Works" series.

The base features five removable bases that are fully integrated into the display stand - creating an instant vignette for your favorite squad or command models. It is shown here painted but without the addition of grass or water effects so that you can see the original product -- but it looks GREAT with a few little extras.

The first 60mm "Trench Works" base has also successfully cast and is shown here painted in all of its glory. This base is fully compatible with the heavy weapon or walker unit of your choice. The sandbag wall has been reinforced with corrugated steel and wooden posts with a firing position ready made.

These new bases will be available for purchase starting Wednesday, September 30th, 2009.

60mm Trench Works Preview

The first of the new 60mm bases is sculpted and just about ready for molding.

As part of the "Trench Works" theme this features scale duckboards, a sandbag wall reinforced with corrugated steel sheeting and plenty of mud. The sandbags on the outside of the wall were sculpted at 1/2 width to take up as little room along the edge as possible while still maintaining detail and scale realism.

It is shown here with a Games Workshop "Imperial Guard Heavy Weapon Team" for scale purposes only.

This item should be available for ordering by the end of October.

the Not-So-Secret SUPER SALE!

Peer Review: ++ From the Warp ++

Ron at FTW has posted a review of our 40mm "Trench Works" and "Urban Streets" bases. Head on over and check it out - it's an excellent review from someone with a lot of experience playing with resin bases.

Ron mentions that our bases are straight edged instead of beveled - something that comes up a lot - and this will make it into our FAQ next week.

Why aren't the bases beveled? Your 25mm bases are only 25mm on the bottom - the bevel actually eats up a little more than 1mm of space. Secret Weapon bases use the entire 25mm so that you have more room to pose your model and the bases can take on just a bit more detail.

Thanks, Ron, for the review and the questions!
